Assassin's Creed Introduces Surprising Attack on Titan Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a unexpected partnership that defies conventional forecasts, the game developer has unveiled an in-game collaboration between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unexpected Thanksgiving event continues from November 25 through December 22, providing free extra story content for Shadows players.
Mysterious Questline Revealed
According to the official release, "An unusual encounter leads heroes Naoe and Yasuke into a new adventure, where rumors of banned rituals and monstrous changes resonate through the obscurity." The storyline features a "strangely attired woman named Ada" who charges the characters with journeying into the Gemstone Grotto—a important location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her ally from a clandestine cult.
The questline focuses on "peculiar tests and a monstrous foe" and is available to all players who have gained access to the Yasuke character.
Recognizable Places and Metamorphoses
The teaser highlights the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan recreated as the Crystal Cave. This significant location was previously where the Reiss royal family passed down the Founding Titan ability through ages. The teaser finishes with a powerful sequence showing a character, likely the prisoner, morphing into a Titan that looms over Naoe and Yasuke.
Special Items and Bonus Content
Players who finish the adventure will acquire an unique katana together with several objects concealed throughout the area in concealed chests. The update also features premium Attack on Titan item packs, including:
- Titan-themed costume for Yasuke
- Mikasa costume for Naoe
- Unique arms
- Survey Corps vehicle
Latest Free Story Content
This patch also brings the game's newest free story addition, titled "The Mystery." This lighthearted quest teams Naoe and Yasuke as they exchange signature abilities: Naoe debuts a performative version of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters subduing stealth takedowns. True to its name, "The Mystery" also includes a original environmental puzzle that may eventually explain some unresolved questions from the main storyline.
