Brian Eno Encourages Backing to Get Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A charity drive is aiming to propel a traditional song from Palestine to the Christmas number one spot. The project aims to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a chance to support Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it doesn't manage to, holiday tracks are a thing unto themselves.”
Powerful Theme of Dignity and Freedom
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who features in the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.
“The song holds a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti shared. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. That is the core idea of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Track's Background and Star-Studded Lineup
The single was laid down following a major charity concert held in late summer. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the piece was cut from the show due to scheduling overruns.
The notable list of performers featured on Lullaby encompasses a selection of acclaimed names from the scene. All participated in the earlier concert, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for charitable causes.
Final Touches and Availability
Lullaby was crafted by a trio of producers and composers. The single blends a combination of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The team running the project have clarified that their goal is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These donations will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.
“We haven't set a specific target,” a figure commented. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Of course, the higher the total, the greater the impact. It all goes out to the people of Gaza.”
The reality in the region was characterized as its extreme devastation, with a vast majority of property described as destroyed or damaged.
“Given that reality, a handful of millions doesn’t make a massive dent. But I think the significant factor is above all making this cause better known and showing the human dimension of the story.”
The song is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the solidarity show will be made available for streaming on a major video platform from mid-December.
