Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing angels, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.

Warning: Key plot points for the latest installment of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Unveiled

Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will separate from the main group to embark on their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team includes Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the nimble rogue (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (the player), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Given an extensive roster, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.

Hence, the first four episodes of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before branching into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Soldiers Table

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where non-violent answers are scarce.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest the cleric might appear unsuited, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the warrior group.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the group has a clear idea where to head next after a violent first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing started the narrative’s action—manipulated the foes for his own means, breaking into the secret base, attacking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his liabilities and fled to a secure base in the remote area, north of the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each adventurer has a individual motive to depart Dol-Makjar:

  • The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, desires retribution.
  • Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his family’s wishes to kill Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • Yet, their status as prominent individuals in House Halovar could enable the party reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor vowed a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now accompany him wherever.

Fugitives

In addition, all of them are wanted by the powers that control the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
  • The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
  • Teor is marked for death by the clan.

This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of Casimir.

What’s Next?

According to the recent installment’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the rest of the participants to assemble the Questers and Strategists tables.

Fans can expect discovering which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on the upcoming Thursday.
