Former Physician Charged with Sexual Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities report that a former physician stands accused of performing sexual assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.
Details of the Grave Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 to 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
The defendant will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.

The charging documents said the 45 charges comprise:
- 15 counts of sexual assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
