Netflix Casts Perfect Actor for Bon Clay in One Piece Third Season

Baroque Works is geared up to exert significant influence in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, although the major clash isn’t set to occur until season 3, and a beloved, fan-favorite member has recently been selected.

The platform declared this week that Cole Escola is now part of the One Piece cast for the third season and will portray Bentham. This character can use their power to change into an exact copy of any individual they’ve touched with their dominant hand. The performer, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will play a interpretation of that character reinterpreted as non-binary, rather than as a drag performer, in the live-action series, unlike the original manga and anime.

This performer will work alongside a number of recently announced actors who will portray the group to life, including head Mr. 0, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, an emerging star as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who also joins the lineup as the ruler of the fictional land.

Though the role is a important part of Baroque Works, the individual will be introduced in One Piece season 3. Considering the second season expected to adapt the Little Garden arc, this marks a notable change in the timing of their first appearance, one that could signal further changes to the plot development.

The actor’s combination of sharp comedic timing and emotional depth makes them a ideal selection for the part. In addition to their current animated role in the youth-focused cartoon movie Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and numerous honors for creating and performing in the successful stage production Oh Mary!, highlighting the range they’ll add to one of One Piece’s highly regarded roles.

The streaming service’s real-life One Piece show is scheduled to come back for its next installment on March 10th, 2026.
