Several casualties in detention have been publicly known, including a senior hospital director who perished in detention after a third of a year in custody.
A prisoner detained alongside the victim stated that he was taken to the exercise area by correctional officers immediately preceding his passing, visibly injured and exposed from the hips downward. His body has not been returned to Gaza.
Other prisoners who lost their lives in Israeli custody are unidentified. The prison service and military supplied investigators with the number of casualties in custody, and minimal other details such as the facility where they died, but excluding the prisoners’ names.
