President Trump announced on Sunday that he has invited the relatives of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the White House.

He added that he contacted her parents and they were “devastated”.

Details on the Tragic Event

Soldier Sarah Beckstrom, twenty years old, was lost her life in a violent incident on last Wednesday in DC.

Her comrade, Andrew Wolfe, twenty-four years old, remains hospitalized in grave state.

Memorials across West Virginia have been held in their memory.

White House Invitation

The president said he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both individuals of the West Virginia Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” the president told the press. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Response

Attendees assembled over the past few days at a local school in the state to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the state guard as part of the president’s national effort to aid law enforcement in DC.

Honoring Beckstrom

“Sarah was the individual that educators hoped for. She behaved with quiet strength, a contagious smile and a optimistic attitude that inspired those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the leader of Beckstrom’s former high school, stated to the media. “She was caring, compassionate and always ready to assist people.”

Service arrangements for Sarah are yet to be finalized.

Judicial Measures and Government Changes

Law enforcement have charged a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and two counts of violent assault while carrying a weapon.

The event caused the government to pause asylum processing and cease providing visas to possessors of Afghan passports.

Condition of the Airman

The airman, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in early 2019 and is a graduate of Musselman high school, as reported by the news agency.

He remains under medical supervision and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Patrick Morrisey stated on a news program.

Attorney general Pam Bondi stated on the program that she also intended to speak to his relatives.

Impact of the Fallen Soldier

Sarah, from her hometown, completed her education from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a MP with excellence, as stated by the military.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey told the audience at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
