Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Has The Club's Backing After PSV Defeat
Arne Slot admitted that it was expected for doubts to be asked about his future after a further convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.
The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in twelve matches, representing the team's worst run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.
They were dominated by the Eredivisie title holders on a difficult night at Anfield.
âI'm confident, things are alright, I've received plenty of support from management,â the coach commented.
âIt's important to change things and secure a win naturally but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's expected that doubts arise.â
He added, âI accept my role. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.â
Talks with Club Management
Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:
âWe talk a lot. They are supportive to the team and to me and we have those conversations but they donât call me all the time each day to say they have faith in me.â
He mentioned, âThrough standard exchanges I perceive the belief. However I havenât spoken to them after this game so far so letâs see.â
Persistent Issues and Player Reaction
The manager highlighted familiar weaknesses from his squad in their European defeat, specifically wasted chances and leaking goals.
Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was blunter in his evaluation of the clubâs predicament.
âI haven't got the solutions. Truthfully, I donât. Iâm saying that to everybody,â Jones said.
âItâs just unacceptable. I donât even have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.â
He added, âItâs hard because Iâm playing for the side I follow. Iâm a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.â
âIn recent memory, I havenât experienced a Reds side experiencing a phase like this with results this poor.â
Jones stated, âBut we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as that badge is taken away, we'll continue to fight.â
âOur aim is to get this team back to the top, demonstrate to all again what this club is about and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.â
âHowever currently, weâre in the shit and we have to turn it around.â
