Soccer Expert Sutton Faces Off Against Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions

The Gunners' ten-match winning streak was ended by Sunderland prior to the global break, however will the English top division frontrunners bounce back against local foes Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this season - but Mikel Arteta's side usually still find a way to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against AI, readers and a variety of special visitors.

In week 12, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

The singer's latest album, the new release, is available on Friday.

Soccer and Parenting Life

Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of several Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not intending a serious return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "My side was trailing 3-1 when I was substituted in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I still love football, but I injured my joint a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the uncertainty of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very happy not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or son decides to play instead."

The singer and his wife his partner have a young family, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to emulate his dad by becoming their coach.

"I will not force football on our children but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my coaching badges - and I will likely be managing their Saturday soccer team," he added.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I obviously owned a football club for a period too.

"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our team for two or three seasons and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to be patient for their star's return from injury but their offense is now more potent with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be quite tight, though. Burnley are disciplined and their sole home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.

This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am in fact going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third league win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

The singer's prediction: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their past two games - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, the Hammers won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look strong again.

The Hammers' sole on the road victory this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when their manager Nuno was still Forest manager.

So, what exactly do I predict here - will it be West Ham continuing their streak under Nuno, or the home side responding?

I am going to choose the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

The guest's outlook: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have improved under Nuno. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for the drop before the season began, but they have impressed a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three in their past four games.

A family member advised me to select Bees striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

The forward will likely find the net again on the weekend but I am still not going to select him or back Brentford at Brighton's ground.

They have not had great fortune on the road this term, and Brighton are always strong at their stadium. The visitors will try to attack on the counter-attack but I think the home manager's team carry much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it actually turns out to be rather tight. 1-1

The computer's prediction: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six games.

Fulham have got plenty of quality in their team but it still seems like they could be sucked into a drop zone battle.

Regarding Sunderland, well they are the surprise package of the top flight season so far.

Their display in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was excellent. We've not seen any other team disrupt the Gunners like that this season, and they were fully competitive for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are clearly able of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of last month.

However I am not do that. Rather, I really need to carry on going against the away team with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good results because they clearly love to prove me wrong.

Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the sole team they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be extremely eager for a good result, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

Olly's choice: I'm aware the visitors are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a bad streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been respectable at home this season. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard fixture to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
