The English Team to Start UEFA Euro 2028 Campaign at the Etihad Stadium
The English squad will commence their 2028 European Championship campaign at the the home of Manchester City, provided that they secure the relatively straightforward entry for a competition hosted across the bulk of Britain and the Republic of Ireland.
Manchester Cityâs home ground has not staged an Three Lions fixture since eight years ago, when the Turkish team were overcome 2-1 in a warm-up game, but is almost certain to stage the national team for their inaugural game on June 10, 2028.
The English side are scheduled to play their final two group matches at Wembley Stadium, but, in the event of winning the preliminary round, their last-16 tie would be held at St Jamesâ Park. Placing second would mean commencing the elimination stage at Evertonâs Hill Dickinson Stadium.
Championship Kickoff and Protest
The event was launched at an event in Piccadilly Circus on Wednesday evening. High-ranking officials from European footballâs governing body and the organizing bodies were confronted as they arrived the location by approximately 50 activists, who called for Israel to be kicked out from international football because of the Gaza crisis.
Placards were displayed with phrases reading âShow Israel the red cardâ and âYou are complicitâ, while protesters chanted: âKick Israel out.â
Event Fixture List
The opening game of the European Championship will be played at the Cardiffâs stadium in Cardiff, on a Friday in June 2028, a game that will feature the Welsh team if they qualify.
The national stadium will host the two semi-final matches and the championship match, which will be staged on a Sunday in July 2028 with a kick-off time at late afternoon.
It is expected that an earlier kick-off, which will also be adopted for UEFA Champions League finals from next season, will attract households and help reach a wider spectrum of viewers.
Host Nations
The Ireland are set to play their opening match at the Aviva Stadium and the Scottish team would follow suit at the national stadium of Scotland.
All four host countriesâ teams will enter the qualifying tournament; two guaranteed slots will be set aside for any that fail to qualify for the finals through that route.
Locations and Knockout Stage
The Birmingham venue and Spursâ ground finalize the nine tournament locations. Each one will hold at least one elimination game, with the last eight played at each countryâs national stadium.
The qualification draw will be conducted in the Northern Irish capital, which was excluded as a tournament location last year when it emerged the Belfast stadium could not be upgraded in time, on 6 December 2026.
