The Porcine Pardon: Hog Named Six Seven Spared by Miami Dade County Mayor.

Although not quite at the identical stature as granting clemency to holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor conducted a Donald Trump moment this week by ritually sparing the life of a pig named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava performed the seasonal stunt at the Cuban-themed Latin Cafe 2000 in the core of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This animal is guiltless. She deserves this act of mercy. No offenses are on her docket,” stated the mayor in a speech with clear references to the extraordinary and sizable number of executive clemencies issued since the commencement of a current administration.

“Except perhaps for eating half a dozen apples per day,” Levine Cava continued. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life away from worry.”

The gathering, either celebrating or rejecting the region’s Hispanic tradition of eating roast pork during the holidays, was created to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, contributed by a first responder, was christened after the modern linguistic fad of young people exclaiming “six seven” – originating from a musical verse – often seemingly at random. The phrase became so pervasive that a prominent word reference recently named “6-7” its top term for the year.

A Peaceful Retirement

The pardoned swine is now destined to live out its days at a countryside refuge “distant from barbecues and spits”, according to the ceremony's official statement.

“The annual pig pardon has become a beloved tradition to begin the festive period,” said the cafe owner, in a particularly upbeat message.

“It represents the essence of Miami: vibrant, multicultural, and based in heritage that bring people together. Annually, we are delighted to mark tradition and kindness in a way only Miami can.”

Participants enjoyed a meat-free selection of croquettes and cafecito as they marked Six Seven’s big moment.
