The Two Fatalities Identified in Brown University Attack as Authorities Press On With Hunt for Killer.

Both young individuals who lost their lives in the weekend's mass shooting on the university campus were honored at the start of the week – as a manhunt for their assailant persisted following the release by Rhode Island officials of the only individual of interest in the case.

Tributes for Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year scholar from Alabama, was described as “an amazing, stable, pious, radiant soul”, as stated by the Birmingham's Cathedral Church of the Advent, which offered condolences for her at a gathering on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s branch of College Republicans of America, according to the organization. The White House press secretary also shared condolences on social media, remarking: “Words cannot express. Thinking of her kin and peers, particularly her mother and father.”

An International Student

The other person killed was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov, from Uzbekistan in his initial year at the prestigious university, family members said.

Umurzokov’s identity was confirmed by Uzbekistan’s foreign ministry.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and aiding others,” his sister, Samira Umurzokova said in a memorial statement.

The Shooting Incident

Nine more persons were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the engineering department of Brown’s university in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Officials stated late Sunday that a 24-year-old male detained in a search at a lodging about 17 miles from the campus earlier in the day was released from custody.

“We have a murderer out there,” said Peter Neronha, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Investigations can lead one way, and then you need to change course and head another way, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last day or so.”

Community Anxiety

The city's mayor, Brett Smiley, acknowledged: “It is expected to provoke renewed concern for our public”.

The assailant discharged a weapon inside a lecture hall in the engineering facility on over the weekend, firing more than 40 rounds from a 9mm handgun, a law enforcement official told the Associated Press.

Law enforcement that raided the hotel seized a pair of pistols and two ammunition clips when the individual was detained, as was reported.

The Wounded Victims

Regarding the nine injured, one pupil was released from the hospital, stated the university president, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in grave but unchanging health, and one was in critical condition, police said on Sunday.

A private school, a private academy in North Carolina, said a recent graduate, Kendall Turner, was one of the critically injured.

More Condolences

Tributes were paid to Cook at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “She was an incredible, grounded, faithful bright light not only here growing up... but at Brown University she was an incredible light in that institution as well.”

A group leader, Martin Bertao, posted a statement from the club. “Ella was known for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she served her chapter and peers,” he said.

Jonathan Henick, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by Umurzokov’s death in a tribute. “Our profound condolences go out to his relatives, companions, and schoolmates and lament the passing of his bright future.”
