Toronto Blue Jays Secure World Series Matchup Versus defending champion Dodgers
Springer contributed to the Houston Astros securing the World Series in 2017.
Toronto's Blue Jays reached their maiden World Series since 1993 by beating the Seattle Mariners in the final Game 7 of the ALCS.
Trailing 3-1, Springer delivered a three-run home run in the seventh frame, leading the only Canadian franchise in MLB to a 4-3 triumph in the best-of-seven series. Next up are the Dodgers, holders of the defending champions, in the forthcoming World Series.
"I'm thrilled for our team, the city, our country," commented Springer, a star of the Houston Astros team that secured the 2017 World Series. "What an amazing experience."
The veteran has now slugged 23 total post-season home runs, ranking him third on the list behind Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (twenty-seven).
"It's hard to imagine another player in the world that I'd choose in that situation other than George Springer with his October magic," said Blue Jays manager John Schneider.
Seattle's team, despite leading the series two games to none and three games to two, are still the sole team never to appear in a World Series.
Wilson stated "certainly that it's going to sting" following his club's elimination at Toronto's Rogers Centre, but praised their performance throughout the year.
"They're an exceptional squad. Sadly that we had to come out on the unsuccessful side of the series," he added.
The Blue Jays secured the title on their two prior appearances in the early 90s, and are set to host the Los Angeles in the first game on this Friday.
